6" heavy duty poly brush for chimney

Ordered by mistake, will return, wrong size, but very well made, couldn't believe how tough it fell for a poly brush.

Poor sizing, otherwise fine

I ordered one of these from Northline, and the quality of the brush seems good except for one crucial detail: the brush is too small for my 6-inch stainless chimney liner. It only touches one side of the chimney at a time, preventing it from doing any real scrubbing of the liner. I now note that Northline warns that the diameter can vary by a 1/2 inch. Guess I lost the lottery. I wouldn't buy one again because of this lack of quality control. For me, it was a frustrating waste of money.

Good Brush - don't forget the rods though

I was using a chain that I twirled around. After a friend had a chimney fire decided I had better upgrade and do a more thorough cleaning. This did the trick. Used it with 4 of the 4' rods and was very easy to get things clean.

Pro tip - use gloves you don't want to use again or only for cleaning chimneys. The gloves will get coated with black creosote and not be useful for other things. I used a semi new pair of leather gloves - oops. Had to buy a new pair.

Even though this brush is made of plastic, it seems very tough. I cleaned my chimney one time with it and it did the job. Northline shipped it promptly.

This was my first experience using a chimney brush

This was my first experience using a chimney brush. I have a 15 foot chimney for a wood burning stove with a 6 inch steel liner. Due to the nature of my chimney cap and cleanout box I had to enter at a near 90 degree angle and therefore the brush entered askew and got jammed. After speaking with your tech support and a person in the business, I trimmed down the brush, taking off some all around and more at the top corner and opposite bottom corner diagonally across. The brush now moves much better. I'm not sure if a medium weight brissel would have been better considering the bend and all. Also, I bought one length of 3/4 inch rod and three 7/8 inch rods, I think all 3/4 inch would have been more flexible and still do the job.

Chimney brush worked very well

Chimney brush worked very well. The brush had to be Poly because the chimney was stainless stee. It did the job. Period.
